Runtz Latest Arrival
Runtz is a potent strain of marijuana that first appeared in the Los Angeles cannabis scene in the late 2010s. The 50/50 hybrid is the genius combination of the Zkittlez and Gelato strains. The super in-demand bud has a monster THC content that makes the strain as powerful as it is tasty. The high from Runtz cannabis quickly takes hold minutes after your final exhale as it lifts your spirits with joyful euphoria and a sense of cerebral serenity. While this well-balanced hybrid strain starts with a lot of creative and upbeat vibes, it’s probably not the best option for getting a lot done, as when its physical sedation hits, you’re likely to spend the rest of its buzz blissfully couch-locked. Its 100% sedation will eventually drift you off into a deep and peaceful slumber. Tasting much as it smells, Runtz marijuana has an incredibly delicious flavor profile consisting of tropical fruits and sour berries, along with citrus and pine notes. Marijuana fans rejoice! Runtz seeds grow into medium-height plants with green leaves and cone-shaped buds. The leaves act as sun catchers, filling the buds with warmth and the energy they need to grow big and strong. Every inch of the plant is covered in white crystal trichomes that give off a strong aroma that you can smell long before you lay eyes on the plant. The buds are leafy and bright green with amber corkscrew-shaped pistils. The harvested nuggets look similar to the buds. The nuggets are bright green and orange and are still covered with dusty resin. Breaking these nuggets apart only intensifies that aroma. The original Runtz strain won first place for Medical Flower at the 2021 High Times Medical Cup Michigan. It also won second place for Best Indica Flower at the High Times Medical Cup in both NorCal and Massachusetts in 2021. With a sterling resume like this, it is no wonder why more growers are flocking to the Runtz seeds.
Growing Tips for Our Seeds
This 50/50 hybrid is fabulously easy to grow, making it a top choice amongst growers of all skill levels, including newbies. You can grow Runtz female cannabis plants indoors or out with equal success. These plants prefer warm, dry climates to thrive. They require plenty of fresh air and sunlight, so if you are growing indoors, you will need to mimic that environment to get the most out of your grow. Make sure you have enough space to grow these taller-than-average plants. Also, keep in mind that the roots system grows wide, so you will need ample space between plants to ensure the roots have room to really spread out.
Dial in Your Growing Conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor: Runtz cannabis plants can be grown indoors and outdoors by all levels of growers. The ideal temperature for these plants is 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit, and they benefit from slightly cooler temperatures at night. Since Runtz cannabis plants are of the feminized variety, they must be provided with 18 hours of light per day and 6 hours of darkness during their vegetation stage. You will need to change the light cycle to 12/12 to induce flowering and make it all the way to harvest.
- Moisture control: In terms of humidity levels, you’ll want to set it for 40-45% during the vegetative growth stage. To get the plants through to the flowering stage, you will need to drop the humidity to a steady 30% so that you don’t find mold or bud rot on your plants.
- Training Techniques: As a tall-growing strain that isn’t known for “spreading out,” you’ll probably want to use the Screen of Green method if you’re growing Runtz indoors to encourage more lateral growth. Outdoors, you are going to want to top and use Low-stress training to ensure that light and air reach all levels of the plant.
The Germination Game Plan
Before you even plant your Runtz female cannabis plants, you will first need to germinate these seeds. To do so, refer to our free germination guide, knowing that they are backed by our impressive 90% germination guarantee.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect to harvest after a flowering period of 55-65 days. Outdoor gardeners should plan on a harvest sometime around the end of September.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 450 grams per plant, outdoor grows typically produce up to 500 grams per plant. Hefty yields for easy-to-grow plants. This is a strain you will keep in your rotation for as long as you grow your own cannabis.
Dominant Terpenes in Runtz: Berry, Fruity, Sweet
The Runtz terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is limonene, while beta-caryophyllene and linalool are secondary terpenes.
- Limonene: Most Dominant – Found in citrus peels and cannabis.
- Beta-Caryophyllene: Secondary Terpene – Found in black pepper, cinnamon, and cloves. Gives off a spicy and peppery aroma.
- Linalool: Aromatic Terpene –Floral and spicy notes; this terpene is a key player in the calming qualities of cannabis strains.
Dominant Cannabinoids in Runtz:
Cannabinoids play an important role in Runtz seeds and are generally a huge part of most strains of cannabis. That euphoric, creative, and joyful feeling you get when enjoying the Runtz strain is due to its dominant cannabinoids. Each cannabinoid does something different to the user.
- THC: The Main Character – THC is the most dominant cannabinoid on the molecular level of this strain. The crystalline compound tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient of cannabis. Topping out at a monster 29%, the THC in this evenly balanced strain is responsible for the euphoric and joyful feeling you get when enjoying Runtz cannabis.
- CBD: Very Minimal Amounts – The CBD levels in Runtz are less than 1%.

I noticed early on that these seeds preferred consistency. After dialing in the environment, the plants responded well and maintained healthy development. Germination was acceptable, though not instant. What stood out was how calm the grow became over time. It ended as a reliable run that rewarded patience rather than constant adjustments.

I like to prune heavily to increase airflow. These Runtz plants don’t skip a beat. I stripped the lower third in week three of flower and they just kept on stacking. The resilience is amazing. These seeds produce a very “tough” plant that rewards an active grower. The stalk girth is particularly impressive compared to other candy strains.

If you want Runtz, buy it here. The germination is guaranteed, the shipping is discrete, and the genetics are stable. I’ve grown this from three different banks and this is the most vigorous version by far. Five seeds, five healthy plants, and one very happy grower. I’ll be back for more next month!

Even though it’s a hybrid, it has that beautiful vertical “reach” in early flower. It fills out the vertical space in my tent nicely. The seeds produced plants with very thin, elegant fan leaves that don’t block too much light from the lower sites. It’s a very “clean” growing plant that looks as good as it smells.

I didn’t even top these, and they still produced dozens of healthy side branches. The natural bushiness is impressive. The seeds provided a high-vitality plant that fills out a space very quickly. It’s a great choice for those who want a “shrub” style plant without having to do a lot of high-stress training. Very sturdy.

Growth pace felt natural and well balanced. The plants neither rushed nor stalled at any stage. That steady rhythm made it easier to maintain a routine without feeling behind or pressured. It was a comfortable grow that allowed me to focus on maintaining conditions rather than chasing corrections.

I used a Scrog net and these filled the squares perfectly. The lateral branching is prolific, which is exactly what you want when trying to maximize the yield of a Runtz plant. The plant responds well to defoliation, allowing light to reach the lower nodes without slowing down the primary growth. These seeds produce a very cooperative plant.

I tend to grow conservatively, and these seeds fit that approach well. They responded positively to steady conditions and routine feeding. Nothing felt overly sensitive or unpredictable. It was a practical, dependable experience that rewarded patience and consistency rather than constant experimentation or aggressive adjustments.

I put three of these in the ground outdoors. They grew into literal shrubs! The branching is so strong that I didn’t even need to use a trellis. The seeds germinated with zero issues, and the plants looked vibrant throughout a very hot July. They seem to thrive on intense light and don’t show any leaf curling or light stress.
