Runtz Auto Latest Arrival
The Runtz strain is tart, sweet, and energizing, this cannabis strain first emerged in California in 2020 before becoming internationally popular. With delicious and world-famous dessert strains, Zkittlez and Gelato, as its parents, as well as the addition of ruderalis to give it its autoflowering properties, the Runtz auto marijuana strain is a favorite among cannabis aficionados including both seasoned growers and users. While the strain itself hasn’t won a ton of awards, it did bring home the 2020 People’s Choice Award for Best Indica Flower. A relatively young strain, Runtz still has plenty of time to win major awards in the cannabis community. It is known for its distinct sugary sweet flavor profile and named after the candy with similar taste. This strain is the ideal strain for anyone that loves to toke and has a major sweet tooth.

Runtz: As Sweet as Candy
Runtz’s mostly Indica effects matched with its sweet and sour blend of fruits and berries put this strain in a class of its own. Whoever thought that a bud that tastes this sweet, with this much nostalgia could be so darned powerful. Looking for a giggly, bubbly, euphoric head-high that features a dessert-like taste? Then you have come across the best bud for you. Widely considered the best after-dinner, evening-use bud you can buy, the Runtz strain is a great strain to help you unwind, melt into the couch and Netflix your way into a beautifully deep sleep. Known throughout the cannabis growing industry as a hardy grower, even with little to no experience growing your own plants, the Runtz autoflowering cannabis plants are resilient and, therefore, exceedingly easy to grow.
Growing Tips for Our Seeds
The Runtz strain can be grown indoors or outdoors and are fast upward growers. They can grow to be between 3 feet tall and 5 feet tall depending on where you grow them. The Runtz strain prefers warmer temperatures during the day with slightly cooler temperatures at night. Medium humidity and dryness will help grow these plants big and strong. Most experienced growers would advise you to supplement your plants with extra nitrogen and keep an eye on their leaves to ensure they don’t succumb to nutrient burn. Luckily, for first-timers, this strain is versatile and can be grown anywhere from a windowsill to a closet grow to your outdoor garden. With ample light, air flow, and humidity you are almost guaranteed a successful harvest, as long as you follow our grow guide and match the growing conditions necessary.
Dial in Your Growing Conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor: Runtz plants will perform great in warmer, moderately humid environments. Ideal growing conditions for Runtz Auto plants require a temperature range between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. You will want to use an 18-20 hour lighting cycle during the vegetative stage to maximize growth. Then shift to 12 hours of light, 12 hours of dark to initiate flowering.
- Moisture control: The humidity needed to grow the Runtz strain is ideally, around 50-60% during the vegetative stage. Drop the humidity to 40-50% when approaching the flowering stage. This will keep mold and mildew off of your buds.
- Training Techniques: Runtz plants can be trained using the Screen of Green training technique. SOG essentially means densely planting cannabis seedlings and transferring them to the flowering stage a little early. This will maximize yields with limited space, ultimately making the most of whatever space you have to grow.
The Germination Game Plan
Before you even plant your Runtz Auto female cannabis plants, you will first need to germinate these seeds. To do so, refer to our free germination guide, knowing that they are backed by our impressive 90% germination guarantee.
Yields, Flowering Time and Harvest
- Flowering Time: With an indoor grow you can expect the Runtz strain to harvest after its flowering stage of 50-60 days. Outdoor growers, on the other hand, can plan on collecting their harvest by the middle of October.
- Yields: Indoor yields are around 350 grams per square meter, while outdoor grows typically produce over 400 grams per plant. Both indoor and outdoor yields are average, but considering the shorter than average flowering and harvest time the numbers are pretty great. You should be able to achieve these results by following our guide to successful grows and harvest.
Dominant Terpenes in Runtz: Sweet and Sour
The Runtz Auto terpene profile is directly responsible for how this plant smells, tastes and the effects on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is Caryophyllene while linalool and limonene are in the background contributing to the taste and how it affects the user.
- Caryophyllene: Most Dominant– This terpene is what gives Runtz its citrusy flavor.
- Linalool: A Berry Complexity- Found in berries and fruits, linalool has calming effects on both body and mind.
- Limonene: Energetic – The limonene in Runtz helps to add to its happy feeling. Improves mood and adds to the uplifting feel.
Dominant Cannabinoids in Runtz:
Cannabinoids, although in the background, play an important role in Runtz and are a huge part of the genetic makeup of cannabis in general. That creative, relaxed and even euphoric and joyful feeling you get when using Runtz is due to its dominant cannabinoids. Each cannabinoid does something a little different.
- THC: The Main Character – THC is the most dominant cannabinoid on the molecular level of Runtz. The crystalline compound tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient of cannabis. Topping out at a monster 27%, the THC in the Indica-dominant hybrid is responsible for how this strain makes users feel.
- CBD: Small Amounts – While the CBD levels in Runtz are slightly less than .5% it still plays a small role in what the strain does to the user. CBD, even in small doses, is responsible for its non-psychoactive effects. CBD can help sleep cycles, aches, pains and even nausea.

These Runtz autos are very thirsty! They are drinking a gallon a day now that they are in full flower. High metabolism means big buds.

I top my plants usually, but these didn’t even need it. They naturally branched out into a perfect globe shape. Great structure for an autoflower with minimal training required.

Order arrived much faster than expected. Tracking was accurate and kept me updated through every state. Seeds were packaged with a lot of care. Germination was a total 100% success.

Fast flowering and incredible resin count. I am only halfway through flower and my tent already smells like a sweet fruit grove. Very happy with these results and the vitality.

I love that I don’t have to mess with light timers. These autos are so convenient for a beginner. They just started flowering on their own and haven’t slowed down since. Top quality.

These plants are incredibly easy to train. I used some soft ties and they stayed exactly where I put them. Very flexible and strong branches.

The lateral branching is so thick that I had to do a bit of pruning to make sure light was reaching the bottom. These are very high-vigor plants!

Resilient to over-watering! I am a bit heavy-handed with the pitcher, but these genetics didn’t show any signs of drooping or root issues. Very forgiving plants for a novice like me.

I love the nodal spacing on this Runtz hybrid. It allows for great airflow through the center of the plant. I did a light defoliation and they didn’t skip a beat. Very vigorous, fast-moving growth.

Fast turnaround from order to my front door. I was germinating within a week of hitting the purchase button. The seeds were plump and had that nice tiger-striping that indicates high maturity.
