Amnesia
Created in the United States in the 1990s, the Amnesia strain is a cross between Cinderella 99, Jack Herer, and Skunk #1. The mostly Sativa strain is known for its enigmatic sweet and earthy flavor profile, with a bit of citrus at first taste. The flavor is given an added bit of complexity, thanks to a hint of spice. In terms of its aroma, it has a similar aroma to the flavor profile, with an orange zest and hint of lemon that some have said causes the aroma to be reminiscent of key lime pie. This mouth-watering combination of flavors and aromas has increased Amnesia’s popularity in the cannabis community. In terms of the effects, Amnesia is well known for giving its users a powerful cerebral effect. It can not only boost the user’s creativity, but it can also put the user in an overall better mood. It has also been known to help with memory and add energy when used.

Amnesia: Technicolor Buds
The grown Amnesia plant is unlike any other cannabis plant in the world. It has a rainbow of vibrant colors from leaves to buds. Featuring purple, blue, three shades of green, amber, and even red, the color profile of this strain is second to none. Looking at the buds closely, you can see that they appear dusty. The resin that gives the plants that appearance is sticky and full of flavor. Looking at this plant, you wouldn’t ever imagine that it tastes like key lime pie, but it does. When harvested, most of the colors of this strain disappear because of the drying process. You will be left with green and orange nuggets that are as dense as they are tasty. The OG Amnesia strain has won several awards, including, but not limited to, first prize in the Sativa category at Expogrow 2012 in Irun, Absolute Winner at the Highlife Cup in Holland, and second prize in the Sativa category at the Treating Yourself Cup in Toronto in 2014. With all of these awards and accolades, it’s no wonder why the Amnesia strain is among the most popular in the world.
Growing Tips for Our Seeds
Amnesia is considered challenging, particularly by those with only intermediate experience. However, the effects of the strain are worth the additional effort. Amnesia needs to be grown in a warm, Mediterranean-like climate. Controlling humidity levels is vital to preventing mold growth. One of the best things about Amnesia is that it is particularly resilient to both mold and pests. You still want to keep an eye on the environment and ensure that it has proper ventilation. Taking on this strain is not for the faint of heart, but once you’ve brought it to harvest, you will see that all of the extra work was totally worth it.
Dial in Your Growing Conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor: Amnesia cannabis seeds can be grown indoors and outdoors by experienced growers. The ideal temperature for these plants is between 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit. An 18-hour light cycle is required during the vegetative stage. You will want to change it to a 12-hour cycle of light and 12 hours of darkness during the flowering stage.
- Moisture control: Humidity levels need to stay around 40% to 50% for the entire grow. These levels are a good relative humidity to keep mold off of your plants.
- Training Techniques: Low-stress training, Screen of Green method, and topping are the best training techniques for this strain. These techniques will increase your yields come harvest time by allowing light to reach every level of your plants.
The Germination Game Plan
Before you even plant your Amnesia female cannabis plants, you will first need to germinate these seeds. To do so, refer to our free germination guide, knowing that they are backed by our impressive 90% germination guarantee.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: With indoor grow, you can expect the Amnesia strain to harvest after a flowering period of 60-70 days. If you are growing it outdoors, then you need to plan for harvesting in the Autumn months.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 600-650 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 650-700 grams per plant. Massive yields of one of the coolest-looking plants you will ever grow.
Dominant Terpenes in Amnesia: Key Lime Pie
The Amnesia terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is myrcene, while caryophyllene and limonene are the secondary terpenes.
- Myrcene: Most Dominant – Musky, earthy aroma. Enhances the strain’s sedative effects.
- Caryophyllene: Secondary Terpene – Found in cloves, oregano, cinnamon, and hops.
- Limonene: Citrusy – Typically found in citrus rinds as well as cannabis, this terpene gives the strain its fruity and citrus-like notes.
Dominant Cannabinoids in Amnesia:
Cannabinoids play an important role in Amnesia seeds and are generally a huge part of most cannabis strains. That energized, happy, and uplifted feeling you get when enjoying the Amnesia strain is due to its dominant cannabinoids. Each cannabinoid does something different to the user.
- THC: The Main Character – THC is the most dominant cannabinoid on the molecular level of this strain. The crystalline compound tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient of cannabis. Topping out at 20%, the THC in this Sativa-dominant strain is responsible for the happy and euphoric feeling you get when enjoying Amnesia cannabis.
- CBD: Very Minimal Amounts – The CBD levels in Amnesia are less than 1%.

No “hermie” issues even with a minor light leak in my tent. Very stable feminized seeds.

I bought Amnesia for an indoor run and was impressed by the consistency. Seeds cracked quickly, and the young plants came up with strong stems and nice color. During flowering, they stayed vigorous and resilient. I also got a fast, friendly reply from support. Very happy with the genetics and final results.

I grew three of these together and you could barely tell them apart. Very stable breeding work here.

This Amnesia run gave me a lot to like. The seedlings were lively from the beginning, and the plants kept that momentum all the way through flowering. I had a small shipping question, and customer service handled it smoothly. Between the healthy growth and strong harvest, I’m very satisfied overall.

The symmetrical growth makes it very easy to create a perfectly balanced plant.

Ordered on a Tuesday and had them by Friday. The packaging was super discreet and the seeds were well-protected in the vial.

The side branches are almost as tall as the main apex. It creates a beautiful, wide bush.

Even if you mess up the PH a few times, these plants are forgiving enough to bounce back quickly.
Sadie Bloom Verified Buyer
I topped them twice and they responded by exploding with four main colas of equal size. Very cooperative genetics.

For an Amnesia strain, it finished up relatively quickly—around 10 weeks of flower.
